I’ve found that most employers are looking for referrals from within. In other words, they ask their coworkers if there is anyone they recommend for filling the job opening. Understandable because they trust their team and their team’s network. So, what if you dont know anyone in the organization? My advice would be to become a “distant friend” of the company. Like their FB and Twitter pages. Stalk the fan page for relevant events to attend and actually meet staff from the organization. Lastly, mention this in the cover letter and interview! They like to see that your knowledgeable about the industry and what is happening in the organization
